Current council
South Ayrshire council is currently run by a partnership of SNP, Labour and Independent councillors.
According to the 2020 Hands Up survey 45.7% of children in South Ayrshire walked to school in 2020 and 3.3% scooted or skated (there were no figures for children cycling). According to the 2021 Cycling Scotland annual monitoring report 1.2% of employees usually or regularly cycle to work and 21% of households have no access to a car. The council provided no data on its active travel spend. It is currently developing an Active Travel Strategy with the Ayrshire Roads Alliance.
